Wall finish · Limewash

LimewashBreathing mineral wash — cloudy, chalky, alive.

Limewash is the most ancient surface finish we apply — slaked lime brushed onto absorbent substrate, drying through reaction with air. The dried wall has a chalky depth, with cloudy patches where the brush travels overlap. Read it under raking sunlight at golden hour and you'll understand the appeal.

Why people choose it

What makes it stand apart.

  • 01

    Cloudy, mineral depth

The wash dries unevenly — that's the point. Lighter and darker passages give the wall a hand-finished signature.

  • 02

    Tunable to your light

We mix pigment on site, tested under your daylight before committing. The same colour reads two different ways at 10am vs 6pm.

  • 03

    Naturally antibacterial

High-pH lime is hostile to mould, mildew and most surface bacteria — useful in kitchens and bathrooms.

Process

How we install limewash.

A controlled, on-site sequence — each stage signed off before the next begins.

  1. 01

    Substrate prime

Mineral-bond primer that lets lime grip while still letting the wall breathe.

  2. 02

    First wash

Loose, broad brush strokes — laying down the base colour with intentional overlap.

  3. 03

    Second wash

Tighter, more deliberate — building cloud and texture where you want them.

  4. 04

    Optional third

For deeper colour or stronger movement. Many of our installs stop at coat two.

From the work

What our clients say.

Three notes stay in view at once: the lead story, the neighbouring context, and the next surface waiting in the queue.

01

"We had three other contractors quote our penthouse refit. DecoPaint were the only ones who turned up with sample tiles before we'd even signed. The microcement bathrooms came out exactly as we'd hoped."

Mariam K.

Homeowner · Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Microcement · 110 m²

02

"Our restaurant interiors needed a concrete-texture finish that could handle daily kitchen heat and steam. Three years in, the walls look better than they did on day one. Quiet, professional crew."

Hisham R.

Restaurant owner · DIFC, Dubai

Concrete texture · 240 m²

03

"We brief contractors a lot in our practice. DecoPaint is one of the few we've kept on our preferred list. Tight communication, honest about timeline, and the marmorino finish on our last villa was textbook."

Priya S.

Senior interior designer · Studio in Al Wasl

Marmorino · 8 rooms

04

"Took the day off to be on site, didn't need to. They sent photos every morning, asked the right questions, finished early. The terrazzo lobby is genuinely the best surface in the building."

Omar A.

Building owner · Abu Dhabi

Terrazzo · 380 m²

05

"The pearl finish in our master suite is exactly what I'd been trying to describe to other contractors for two years. They got it the first time."

Lina F.

Homeowner · Arabian Ranches, Dubai

Pearl finish · 4 rooms

FAQ

Don't see your question? Email us — we read every one.

  • Mature lime doesn't dust. Fully cured (about 14 days) it's stable to touch and gentle cleaning.

  • Most jobs run 3–6 days on site, plus a 7-day cure window before the surface is in full service.

  • By square metre, all-in: materials, labour, prep and a 5-year warranty. Specialty work is quoted per project.

  • Yes — we bring A5 hand-finished sample tiles to a review meeting at your project, anywhere in the UAE, so you can see each finish in your own light before you commit.

  • Across all seven emirates. Travel and lodging for crew is built into quotes outside Dubai.
